Donna's Biosketch

Hello everyone! New technology is a little challenging for me which is one of the reasons I wanted to get the E-Learning Certificate. I feel like there are many people out there like me who would benefit from online learning. I figure if I can do this then anyone can.

Currently, I work for Portland State University in Alumni Relations as an Executive Support Specialist. I am also the House Manager for the Simon Benson House, which is the Queen Anne style house on campus. In addition and probably my favorite part of the job is Alum Note Editor. Right now, these notes are confined to print. I am hopeful that we will soon be sharing them electronically and receiving input electronically as well.

I am a non-traditional student. It took me 28 years to get my BA. I began my college career using a manual typewriter. Let me tell you forgetting a paragraph back then meant retyping an entire paper. I am currently writing my thesis for my MA in Conflict Resolution. My paper is centered around workplace conflict and the role this conflict impacts wellbeing for both the organization and the employees. I just finished a certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology.

I am a single mom and have two amazing sons. My oldest son is Brandon who is pictured with me on his college graduation last year. He is currently a grad student here at PSU. He shares my passion for politics around social issues and for dragon boat racing!

My youngest son is Jacob. He is a 4th grader and is really into animation. Whenever I get a new gadget it takes him about 1 minute to set it up for me. He recently posted his first YouTube video and was very excited to see over 200 viewers.

We also have a miniature dachshund named Dash after Daschel from the movie The Incredibles.

I am native to the Pacific Northwest having lived from Forks, Washington to Portland, Oregon. I love to travel and have stayed in teepees, cabins, tents, yurts, haunted hotels, and nice hotels.

I am really interested in environmental therapy and see myself using nature to reconnect my own wellbeing as well as others.
